Epworth Sleepiness Scale

The Epworth Sleepiness Scale is designed to measure daytime sleepiness and is helpful in diagnosing sleep disorders.

To take the test you need to answer the following eight questions. Each question is designed to assess how likely you would be to doze off or fall asleep in a variety of situations.

Remember, or imagine, doing the following eight activities in recent times. For each situation use the scale to indicate how likely you would be to doze off or fall asleep, in contrast to feeling just tired.

0–10: within normal limits
Over 10: excessively sleepy. You may have a treatable sleep disorder. Consider medical assessment and review by a sleep physician.
